</div></div><p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Last week was trying for me. Is it okay that I share that with you? I am a strong believer in granting ourselves grace. Many of you are aware if you have been following me on Facebook, that I had surgery last week.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">I admit I was somewhat fearful, yet happy to be moving forward through the invisible wall of fear. In sharing with some of my colleagues and friends, I found that I am not the only one who experienced somewhat of a hectic week:) It made me think about how vital the idea of &#8216;staying calm&#8217;, and keeping our energy calm around us.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.workwithchristy.com/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-652" title="keep-calm" src="http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/keep-calm-300x253.jpg" alt="keep calm 300x253 5 Tips for Staying Calm (regardless of the challenge)" width="300" height="253" /></a></span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="color: #800080;"><strong><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium;">Today I going to share My Top 5 Tips for Staying Calm.</span></strong></span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><strong>1. KEEP YOUR NERVES TO YOURSELF:</strong> Standard wisdom has been to talk about our fears, but sometimes it’s better to take time to figure things out for ourselves and strategize. Even talking it over with our best friends can backfire since they may tend to sympathize with our anxieties and inadvertently fuel our fear.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><strong>2.. USE YOUR IMAGINATION:</strong> Visualizing ways to bring calm can really help. I try to imagine putting my problem in a box, closing it up and then giving it wings so it can fly away into the clouds – getting smaller and smaller until it disappears. You can come up with your own imagery.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><strong>3. THINK ABOUT WHAT “SHE” WOULD DO</strong>: Do you know someone whom you would describe as unflappable? Try to think of what this person would do in your situation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><strong>4. OPT TO BE DISTRACTED</strong>: Instead of obsessing, find something fun, engaging, and constructive to do. Take a break and watch a funny movie or read a blog that always make you laugh. When you lighten up, it&#8217;s a lot easier to keep your cool.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><strong>5. TAKE IN SOME WISE WORDS</strong>: Certain quotes can center me almost immediately such as “In three words I can sum up everything I&#8217;ve learned about life: it goes on.” (Robert Frost) or “If you don&#8217;t know where you are going, any road will get you there.” (Lewis Carroll.) But if these don’t resonate within you, find quotes or affirmations that do and repeat them to yourself for a quick, calm fix.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">When I first started working at home, my children took long naps each afternoon, which gave me two uninterrupted hours to work each day.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">But as they got older, their naps shortened and eventually disappeared. This left me wondering when and how was I going to work at home now that they were all creating their own schedules.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">After exploring several options, I decided to hire a trusted friend to babysit them a few days a week. This arrangement worked well for me, but during holidays and summer break, I’m left scrambling for other arrangements.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Through trial and error, and suggestions from other work at home moms, I discovered a few ways to successfully work at home with toddlers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong><br />
<span style="color: #800080;">1. Undivided Attention:</span></strong> Have you ever tried to get a project done and your child just keeps pulling at your pant leg wanting attention? This is when you know it’s time to take a break and give your child the undivided attention that they need and deserve. Get down on their level and do what they want to do. You’ll find that after a session of focused play and communication that they’ll be content and happy to play on their own again while you answer some emails.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><strong><span style="color: #800080;">2. Activity Kits:</span> </strong>Plan ahead and create various activity kits to occupy your toddler when you need to get some work done. Play dough, arts and craft supplies, dress-up clothes, books, educational DVD’s and train sets are just a few ideas to get you started. Check out Woo Jr for some more ideas on how to keep your toddler entertained.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong><br />
<span style="color: #800080;"> 3. Toddler Swap:</span> </strong>Do you know another well-trusted mom who also works at home? Make an agreement to do a toddler swap. Take turns watching each other’s children while the other gets some work done. Not only does this give you some additional time to work, but your child will love having new playmates.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><span style="color: #800080;"><strong>4. The Daddy Factor: </strong></span>Find some activities that your spouse loves to do and have them share that passion with your children. For my husband, its golf and remote control cars, and now he shares these activities with our sons. Remember to save these activities solely for your spouse and your children, and then use that time to work while they share in some special daddy time together.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><span style="color: #800080;"><strong>5. Slow Down:</strong></span> You probably first started working at home so that you could spend more quality time with your loved ones. So why are you trying to climb to the top so quickly? Slow down and temporarily scale back on your business activities, there will be time enough to grow in the future when your children are older. Remember they are only young once.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">With a little flexibility and creativity, you can be a successful at-home mom and entrepreneur – even with toddlers at home.</span>.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Today we are going to dive right into my 7 Survival Tips For Work-At-Home Moms .</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong>Yes, that’s right; I said “survival.”</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">It’s not easy being a work-at-home mom, and some days I actually ask myself if I will survive another day of this. My best friends are on skype, my clients are on Twitter and Facebook, and my water cooler is the occasional Breaking News pop up from CNN.com.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">I live almost my whole life on my desktop day in and day out, and these 7 survival tips for work-at-home moms saved me, for lack of a better word.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong>Survival Tip # 1</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> Get out of your pajamas. As easy as it is to plop down at your laptop in your pajamas in the morning, don’t do it. Take a shower, do your hair, and throw on some makeup. You’ll feel better about yourself, and your husband will appreciate it.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong>Survival Tip # 2</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> Take frequent breaks. Make sure to get up and out of your chair and stretch your legs from time to time. Throw in a load of laundry, do the dishes, or take a walk around the block. This will not only make you feel more energized, but it will also reduce the chance of your butt and thighs widening to fit the contour of your desk chair.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong>Survival Tip # 3</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> Make sure to eat. Whatever you do, don’t skip meals. Make sure you eat a good breakfast before you get started in the morning, and take a lunch break. If you were working outside the house in an office full of coworkers, you would take a lunch break, right?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong>Survival Tip # 4</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"> Coffee. It speaks for itself.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong>Survival Tip # 5</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> Don’t answer the door. I don’t know what it is, but I think door-to-door solicitors have some special radar to spot out the houses with work-at-home moms inside. I made the mistake ONCE of opening the door and getting stuck in some crazy long conversation about the meaning of life. I don’t fully blame the solicitor either. I was craving human conversation, and he truly was my savior that day.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong>Survival Tip # 6</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> Stand up to your family and friends. Just say no! No, I do not have time for you to come over and hang out today. No I can’t run errands for you. No I can’t sit at your house and wait for the cable guy. Family and friends don’t seem to get the concept of working-from-home. They think it means you have all this free time, and they can ask you for all kinds of favors. Say no, and stick to your guns.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong>Survival Tip # 7</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> Don’t answer your phone, or text messages. Unless its work related, stay away from the phone and text messages. It’s a trap to suck you in for an hour or so and throw off your whole day.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><strong><strong>If you have found this article helpful, please share it with your friends on Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter by clicking one of the buttons below <img src='http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt="icon smile 7 Survival Tips For Work At Home Moms " class='wp-smiley' title="7 Survival Tips For Work At Home Moms " /> I appreciate you!</strong></strong></span></p>

</div></div><p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><a href="http://www.workwithchristy.com/"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-658" title="theworkingathomemom" src="http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/theworkingathomemom.gif" alt="theworkingathomemom How To Deal With Work At Home Mom Stereotypes (real solutions)" width="225" height="187" /></a>One of the hardest issues to contend with as a work at home mom (Wahm) is the <strong>perception</strong> of others that <strong>you aren’t working</strong>. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Many people think that working at home isn’t working at all, and that you have all of the free time in the world.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Those who have spent any time working at home know that there is a lot of time and energy that goes into effectively working at home.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Friends who call in the middle of the day, spouses who expect you to be doing more while home or family members who make offhand comments, <strong>can undermine those efforts</strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><strong>Not all stay at home moms work</strong>, and if you have friends who don’t it can be hard for them to understand that <strong>your days aren’t free</strong>. Calls during your working time, invitations to lunch and uninvited guests can throw a wrench in your work schedule. In order to get your friends to respect your time, <strong>it’s important to make your working schedule clear to them</strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">If you don’t have a clear work schedule, then it is time to make one for yourself. <strong>By setting office hours for yourself, you make it clear to everyone around you that you are serious about your work. </strong>It will also help set boundaries.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Tell your friends that you will be unavailable from a certain time to a certain time, but you’d love to talk before or after those times. You may even go so far as to turn off your phone.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">If you do answer the phone and someone wants to chat, politely let them know that you are working but can speak after a certain time. Also, schedule things like lunches or visits for one day per week. This way you’ll reduce the drop-ins and spontaneous invitations.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Spouses can sometimes have difficulty understanding why, if you are home all day, the housework isn’t done. This problem can best by solved by familiarizing him with the nature of your business.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Show him exactly what you need to do each day, and how long it takes to do each task. Help him understand your work schedule, and how much time you need to work per day. Showing exactly how much money you are making will help him realize the benefits of your work as well.</span></p>
<p><a href="http://www.workwithchristy.com/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-659" title="working-moms" src="http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/working-moms-300x220.png" alt="working moms 300x220 How To Deal With Work At Home Mom Stereotypes (real solutions)" width="300" height="220" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Then ask him to help you come up with solutions for working at home and maintaining the household. Make a list of things that need to be done each week, and assign duties to you, him and the children (if they are old enough).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Then taking care of the house becomes a family priority and something that you all share responsibility in. Notify him of any special projects by keeping a work calendar on the wall. That way he can see what is going on with your work schedule, and why you have ordered pizza for dinner three times in the last week!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Many Wahms can be <strong>hurt over offhand comments about working at home</strong>. Family or even friends can say things like “Well you have the time, because you are at home.” In situations like these, you have two choices.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">You can either get upset and offer a flustered defense or you can take their comments with a grain of salt and offer a calm response. Depending on the situation you can say something like “Well, let me check my work schedule. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">I know I am not available on these days” or “That would be great on Friday afternoon, which is when I leave time in my work schedule for those types of things.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Remember, working at home is new territory for many people although the numbers of Wahms are growing. It may take some time for the average person to understand the commitment and scheduling that it takes to effectively work from home. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">You may never convince some people that you are actually working while at home but establishing respect for your own time is one way to make them see that your work is a priority.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">But when you add new projects, new revenue streams, and a new coaching practice to the mix of work and family commitments, <em><strong>there’s an even greater need to make every hour count</strong></em> (at least this is true for me).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Taking on a new business adventure or pursuing your life&#8217;s purpose can be an exciting time of your professional career, <strong>it can also be stressful.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">There are the challenges of meeting deadlines, organizing time into an already busy schedule for group projects, <strong>and for many mothers there are a host of other commitments and activities that we have on our list.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small;">Looking after your<strong> health</strong> and <strong>well-being</strong> is therefore <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>paramount.</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Whenever we get too busy or stressed, we all tend to make poor food choices that will actually increase stress and cause other problems. To get the most of your healthy eating and avoid stress,</span> <span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">follow these simple tips.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; color: #800080;">Tip #1: Always eat breakfast</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> Even though you may think you aren&#8217;t hungry, you need to eat something. Skipping breakfast makes it harder to maintain the proper blood and sugar levels during the day, so you should always eat something.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">For some of us, breakfast is easily forgotten&#8230; especially if our day starts off in &#8220;rush-mode&#8221;. As a mother of three young children, I found that whipping up a quick meal replacement shake was the easiest thing for me to do.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small;"><strong><br />
<span style="color: #800080; font-size: medium;">Tip #2: Carry a snack</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> Keeping some protein rich snacks in your car, office, or pocket book will help you avoid blood sugar level dips, the accompanying mood swings, and the fatigue. Trail mix, granola bars, and energy bars all have the nutrients you need.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Again, this is a simple tip. It&#8217;s important that the source of the snack is looked into prior to filling up your cart. I know this sounds like a ton of work, but I found that after doing this only once, it shopping the next time so much easier and quicker.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">I have also found that having some healthy snacks delivered on a monthly basis helped me, because I didn&#8217;t have to over think. I could just eat, and know what I was eating not only tasted good, but was actually good for me.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #800080;">If you would like to know about how I do this</span> <a title="Contact Christy!" href="http://www.workwithchristy.com/contact/" target="_blank">contact me here </a> <img src='http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt="icon smile 5 Simple Tips To Help Fight Stress With Healthy Eating" class='wp-smiley' title="5 Simple Tips To Help Fight Stress With Healthy Eating" /> </strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small; color: #800080;"><strong><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;">Tip #3: Healthy munchies</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> If you like to munch when you&#8217;re stressed out, you can replace chips or other non healthy foods with carrot sticks, celery sticks, or even sunflower seeds.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>Tip #4: Bring your lunch</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> Although a lot of people prefer to eat fast food for lunch, you can save a lot of money and actually eat healthier if you take a few minutes and pack a lunch at home. Even if you only do this a few</span> <span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">times a week, you&#8217;ll see a much better improvement over eating out.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>Tip #5: Stock your home</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> As important as it is to get the bad food out of your house, it&#8217;s even more important to get the good food in! The best way to do this is to plan a menu of healthy meals at snacks at the beginning of the week, list the ingredients you need, then go shop for it. This way, you&#8217;ll know what you want when you need it and you won&#8217;t have to stress over what to eat.</span></p>
<p><strong><em><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Honestly, these tips are all simple and something we can all do. I realized that once I made my health a priority, I was able to be a better wife, mother, and business owner.</span></em></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">What we put in our bodies will show up externally in several ways, and most times if we are putting in the wrong things our stress levels become elevated, we have trouble focusing, decreased energy, and feel sick.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><strong><strong>If you have found this article helpful, please share it with your friends on Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter by clicking one of the buttons below <img src='http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt="icon smile 5 Simple Tips To Help Fight Stress With Healthy Eating" class='wp-smiley' title="5 Simple Tips To Help Fight Stress With Healthy Eating" /> I appreciate you!</strong></strong></span></p>

(5 questions you must ask yourself)" width="300" height="202" /></a>Be all you can be, but it&#8217;s not always in the Army. I often see myself as somewhat contented with my life the way things are, but of course &#8230;.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><em><strong>Still I aspire for something deeper and more meaningful.</strong></em></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">So we&#8217;re all pelted with problems. Honestly it shouldn&#8217;t even bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><strong>I believe that our the aspirations we had as kids should continue to live within us</strong>, and become deeper, and more meaningful.</p>
<p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #800080; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><strong>Here are 5 Questions To Ask Yourself To Begin Living Out Loud</p>
<p></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; color: #800080;"><strong>1. What do I really want?</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> The question of the ages. So many things you want to do with your life and so little time to even go about during the day.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">Find something that you are good at can help realize that small step into the life you were designed to live. <strong>Diligence</strong> is the key to know that it is <strong>worth it</strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><br />
</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; color: #800080;"><strong>2. What&#8217;s the bright side in all of this?</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> With so much is happening around us there seem to be no room for even considering that light at the end of the tunnel. We can still see our current challenge as something positive (if we take notes and learn from it). And if it&#8217;s a train at the end of the tunnel, take it for a ride and see what makes the world go round!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; color: #800080;"><br />
</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; color: #800080;"><strong>3. Have I done enough for myself?</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> Have you, or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment  is dangerous for your mental and physical health.  Ask yourself today, what little thing can I do right now to put a smile on my face.  It can be take a quite bubble bath, dancing to your favorite song and shouting out the lyrics, taking a nice walk. You those things are small, and don&#8217;t require mula or anyone else but you. Can you think of anything you can do?</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; color: #800080;"><strong>4. Am I happy at where I am today?</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> It&#8217;s an unfair question so let it be an answer! You love being a good and loving mom or dad to your kids, then take it up a notch! You are happy about the direction in business you have taken, but haven&#8217;t quite taken adequate action to see momentum? Time to get moving! The same goes with everyday life!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><br />
</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; color: #800080;"><strong>5. What motivates me?</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"> What motivates you? It&#8217;s an answer you have to find out for yourself. A motivated and equipped person can do amazing things. So what is it for you? Friendly competition? External rewards? internal rewards?</p>
<p></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Misunderstanding, conflict, and catastrophe can result from not knowing the 7 tips that I am going to share with you today.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><strong><span style="font-size: small;">Again, it&#8217;s important to remember that good communication skills can help you in both your personal and professional life.</span></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">So, how can you improve your nonverbal communication skills? The following top seven tips for nonverbal communication can help you learn to read the nonverbal signals of other people and enhance your own ability to communicate effectively.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium;"><strong>Let&#8217;s get started&#8230;</strong></span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>1. Pay Attention to Nonverbal Signals</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> People can communicate information in numerous ways; so pay attention to things like <strong>eye contact</strong>, <strong>gestures, posture, body movements, and tone of voice.</strong> All of these signals can convey important information that isn&#8217;t put into words. By paying closer attention to other people&#8217;s unspoken behaviors, you will improve your own ability to communicate non-verbally.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>2. Look for Incongruent Behaviors</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> If someone&#8217;s words do not match their nonverbal behaviors, you should pay careful attention. For example, <strong>someone might tell you they are happy while frowning and staring at the ground.</strong> Research has shown that when words fail to match up with nonverbal signals, people tend to ignore what has been said and focus instead on unspoken expressions of moods, thoughts, and emotions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><a href="http://www.workwithchristy.com/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-613" title="Communication" src="http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/verbalcommun-300x268.jpg" alt="verbalcommun 300x268 7 Tips You Must Know To Help You Improve Your Nonverbal Communication Skills" width="300" height="268" /></a></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small;"><strong><br />
<span style="color: #800080; font-size: medium;">3. Concentrate on Your Tone of Voice When Speaking</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> Your tone of voice can convey a wealth of information, ranging from enthusiasm to disinterest to anger. Start noticing <strong>how your tone of voice affects how others respond to you</strong> and try using tone of voice to emphasize ideas that you want to communicate. For example, if you want to show genuine interest in something, <strong>express your enthusiasm by using an animated tone of voice</strong>.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium;"><strong><span style="color: #800080;"> 4. Use Good Eye Contact</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> When people fail to look others in the eye, it can seem as if they are evading or trying to hide something. On the other hand, <strong>too much eye contact can seem confrontational or intimidating</strong>. While eye contact is an important part of communication, it&#8217;s important to remember that good eye contact does not mean staring fixedly into someone&#8217;s eyes.<br />
</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.workwithchristy.com/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-614" title="listen-great-communication" src="http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/listen-great-communication-300x214.jpg" alt="listen great communication 300x214 7 Tips You Must Know To Help You Improve Your Nonverbal Communication Skills" width="300" height="214" /></a></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>5. Ask Questions About Nonverbal Signals</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> If you are confused about another person&#8217;s nonverbal signals, don&#8217;t be afraid to ask questions. A good idea is to <strong>repeat back</strong> your interpretation of what has been said and ask for clarification. An example of this might be, <strong>&#8220;So what you are saying is that&#8230;&#8221;</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>6. Be Aware That Signals Can be Misread</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> According to some, a <strong>firm handshake indicates a strong personality</strong> while a weak handshake is taken as a lack of fortitude. This example illustrates an important point about the possibility of misreading nonverbal signals. A limp handshake might actually indicate something else entirely, such as arthritis.<strong> Always remember to look for groups of behavior.</strong> A person&#8217;s overall demeanor is far more telling than a single gesture viewed in isolation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>7. Practice, Practice, Practice</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> Some people just seem to have a knack for using nonverbal communication effectively and correctly interpreting signals from others. These people are often described as <strong>being able to &#8220;read people.&#8221;</strong> In reality, you can build this skill by paying careful attention to nonverbal behavior and practicing different types of nonverbal communication with others. By noticing nonverbal behavior and practicing your own skills, you can dramatically improve your communication abilities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>Bonus Tip</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #800080; font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong><span style="font-size: small;">8. Consider Context</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> When you are communicating with others, always consider the situation and the context in which the communication occurs. <strong>Some situations require more formal behaviors that might be interpreted very differently in any other setting.</strong> Consider whether or not nonverbal behaviors are appropriate for the context. If you are trying to improve your own nonverbal communication, concentrate on ways to make your signals match the level of formality necessitated by the situation.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Does this picture resonate with how you feel at the end of the night? For I would have to say yes. I am a devoted wife and mother. I have 3 children all under the age of 6. I am also a home-business owner and on top of all of that&#8230; I am currently going through an extensive certification program that will enable to really dive into helping others live their life outloud (all of which I am truly thankful for having in my life).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">But I’ll be transparent with you, sometimes… <strong>I feel pooped</strong>. There were even times in the past where I experienced the feelings of defeat from total burnout.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">This article is my gift to you, if you have ever felt burnout or are not sure continue reading.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">If constant stress has you feeling disillusioned, helpless, and completely worn out, you may be suffering from burnout. When you’re burned out, problems seem insurmountable, everything looks bleak, and it’s difficult to muster up the energy to care—let alone do something about your situation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> The unhappiness and detachment burnout causes can threaten your job, your relationships, and your health. But burnout can be healed. You can regain your balance by reassessing priorities, making time for yourself, and seeking support.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small;"> <strong><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; color: #800080;"> You may be on the road to burnout if:</span><br />
</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong><span style="font-size: small;"> • Every day is a bad day.</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong><span style="font-size: small;"> • Caring about your work or home life seems like a total waste of energy.</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong><span style="font-size: small;"> • You’re exhausted all the time.</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><strong><span style="font-size: small;"> • The majority of your day is spent on tasks you find either mind-numbingly dull or overwhelming.</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive;"><strong><span style="font-size: small;"> • You feel like nothing you do makes a difference or is appreciated.</span></strong></span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">The negative effects of burnout spill over into every area of life –<strong> including your home and social life.</strong> Burnout can also cause long-term changes to your body that make you vulnerable to illnesses like colds and flu. Because of its many consequences, it’s important to deal with burnout right away.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> <strong>If you recognize the warning signs of impending burnout in yourself, remember that it will only get worse if you leave it alone. But if you take steps to get your life back into balance, you can prevent burnout from becoming a full-blown breakdown.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.workwithchristy.com/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-604" title="help on the way" src="http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/help-on-the-way-300x291.jpg" alt="help on the way 300x291 Are You On The Road To Burn Out? <p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>Christy’s Burnout prevention tips</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">1. Start the day with a relaxing ritual. Rather jumping out of bed as soon as you wake up, spend at least fifteen minutes meditating, writing in your journal, doing gentle stretches, or reading something that inspires you.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">2. Adopt healthy eating, exercising, and sleeping habits. When you eat right, engage in regular physical activity, and get plenty of rest, you have the energy and resilience to deal with life’s hassles and demands.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">3. Set boundaries. Don’t overextend yourself. Learn how to say “no” to requests on your time. If you find this difficult, remind yourself that saying “no” allows you to say “yes” to the things that you truly want to do.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">4. Take a daily break from technology. Set a time each day when you completely disconnect. Put away your laptop, turn off your phone, and stop checking email.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">5. Nourish your creative side. Creativity is a powerful antidote to burnout. Try something new, start a fun project, or resume a favorite hobby. Choose activities that have nothing to do with work.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">6. Learn how to manage stress. When you’re on the road to burnout, you may feel helpless. But you have a lot more control over stress than you may think..</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">However, I realize that so many are suffering in silence while dealing with this horrific illness. Today I am going to share 4 helpful tips to help you cope with pani attacks and begin to Live Out Loud.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Did you know that millions of people suffer from panic attacks? I want you to know that you are not alone.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #800080; font-size: medium;"><strong><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><a href="http://www.workwithchristy.com/"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-597" title="panic-button" src="http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/panic-button-300x204.jpg" alt="panic button 300x204 4 Helpful Tips For Coping With Panic Disorder" width="300" height="204" /></a>What are panic attacks or panic disorder?</span></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Panic disorder and anxiety attacks are generally distressing encounters which interfere within the daily lifestyles.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">These types of unexpected, extreme attacks regarding anxiety can make a race heartbeat, wet hands, dizziness, shortness involving breathing, and chest pain.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">In extreme cases, the symptoms may be accompanied by an acute fear of dying. Although they are quite distressing, panic attacks are not usually life-threatening and can last from 5 &#8211; 20 minutes. It is important to note that the signs and symptoms of a panic attack can be similar to those of a heart attack. Please keep this in mind.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #800080; font-size: medium;"><strong><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">4 Helpful Tips For Coping With Panic Disorder</span></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;">1. Avoid ‘self-talk’ that focuses your attention on your symptoms – <strong>don’t tell yourself ‘Stop panicking!’ or ‘Relax!’</strong></span></span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">3. <strong>Focus your attention on something outside your own body and symptoms.</strong> For example, distract yourself by counting backwards in threes from 100, recall the words from a favourite song or concentrate on the sights and sounds around you.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">4. Fleeing from the situation will only reinforce the perception that your panic attacks are unbearable. If you sit and allow the symptoms to pass, you gain confidence in your ability to cope.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #800080;"><strong><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: medium;">Take Away<br />
</span></strong></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Triggers for panic attacks can include over-breathing, long periods of stress, activities that lead to intense physical reactions (for example exercise, excessive coffee drinking) and physical changes occurring after illness or a sudden change of environment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Panic attacks can be treated with a range of therapies including medications, psychotherapy and stress management techniques.<br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Please do not allow you or anyone you know that has panic attacks to suffer from silence any longer. Please share this information with anyone you know that can benefit from this article. I appreciate you.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive;"><span style="font-size: small;">You probably weren’t having a heart attack but an <strong>anxiety attack.</strong>  If you suffer from anxiety disorders, learning to manage it is the first step to overcoming it.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><strong>Anxiety is characterized as extreme reactions to fearful situations. </strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"> When someone follows you into a dark alley, those anxious feelings of a racing heartbeat and sweaty palms gives way to heightened senses and a rush of adrenalin that can save your life.  </span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;"><strong>This is the fight or flight syndrome.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">In the case of frequent anxiety, the fearful feelings are dread of a particular situation and not the situation itself.  Getting caught in traffic can cause an anxiety attack over what might happen when you get to work late..  Starting a new job can bring on anxiety attacks.  You don’t know anyone and fear of that unknown can send you into a panic.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Everyone experiences panic or anxiety in small ways.  Like the fight or flight example, it can save your life.  In new situations, we get panicky but when the outcome we fear fails to materialize, the anxiety stops.  For someone with chronic anxiety, this is not the case.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Every situation that brings anxiety is not life-threatening.  More than likely it is an extremely stressful situation that has brought on the anxiety as a way of dealing with it.  Unchecked anxiety of this type can lead to depression.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small;"><a href="http://www.workwithchristy.com/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-589" title="anxious" src="http://www.workwithchristy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/anxious-e1346761078654.jpg" alt="anxious e1346761078654 7 Effective Steps for Managing Anxiety" width="350" height="494" /></a></span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: medium; color: #800080;">If you suffer from anxiety attacks on occasion or a more frequent anxiety disorder, there are steps you can take to keep your anxiety under control.</p>
<p></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: #000000;"><strong><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: medium;">7 Effective Steps for Managing Anxiety</span></strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><strong><span style="color: #800080;">1. See a professional.</span> </strong> This is always a good first step.  Self-diagnosis of any type of physical or mental condition is unwise and can be dangerous.  A professional psychologist can help you understand your anxiety and prescribe medication or other effective techniques.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><span style="color: #800080;"><strong>2. Get a good night’s sleep. </strong> </span>During the sleep cycle, your body repairs itself.  You feel more rested after several hours of restorative sleep, reaching the REM stage.  Most people need eight hours a night which varies within an hour or two each way.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><span style="color: #800080;"><strong>3. Exercise on a consistent basis.</strong> </span> Exercise helps you to use oxygen more efficiently.  It helps to get more oxygen to the brain.  It also increases focus which may help you see solutions to problems rather than simply worrying about them.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><span style="color: #800080;"><strong>4. Meditate. </strong></span> Meditation is more than chanting mantras.  Yoga is an exercise that involves quieting the mind and controlling your breathing.  Simple mediation such as taking 5 minutes to clear your mind everyday can work wonders in the fight against anxiety.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><span style="color: #800080;"><strong>5. Manage the worry.</strong> </span> When you feel your pulse start to quicken, count backwards from ten.  As you count, focus on the situation.  What has actually happened? Resist the urge to read anything more into the situation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><span style="color: #800080;"><strong>6. Don’t use alcohol.</strong></span>  You might think that the glass of wine is relaxing your tension but alcohol is a depressant.  In anxious situations you could rely too heavily on it and gain another problem in the process.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;"><span style="color: #800080;"><strong>7. Find some relaxing activities.</strong></span>  Stress can rob you of your energy.  On a regular basis, do something you like such as gardening, painting, reading or listening to music.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Anxiety can come into your life at any time.  It’s normal.  When the anxiety becomes frequent you could be at risk for more serious conditions.  If you feel your anxiety is starting to take over your life or increasingly causing you problems, seek professional help immediately.  There is no need to suffer this terrible condition in silence.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon,cursive; font-size: small; color: #800080;"><strong>Your turn</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Coming Soon, cursive; font-size: small;">Was this article useful to you? Which of these 7 tips did you find most helpful? What or tools or methods have you seen used or used yourself to help battle anxiety?  Please share your thoughts in the comment box below.</span></p>
